
Making Your PET Oven Lamps Actually Work (Without the Headache)
Every PET blowing machine is a little different. Different brands, different heating profiles—it’s a bit of a mess. But at the end of the day, the physics of heating a preform doesn’t change. We wanted to fix the frustration of hunting for the “perfect” lamp, so we built ours to just work. Whether you’re running a machine from a decade ago or something brand new, our lamps fit into about 95% of the equipment out there. We just keep it simple and focus on the three things that actually matter: the power, the heat, and the size. The Power Struggle Here is where most people run into trouble. You can’t just throw any lamp into any socket. If you put a 230V lamp into a circuit meant for 400V, you’re never going to hit your target temperature. It’s that simple. We make tubes for pretty much every industrial voltage. This ensures the heat density is exactly what your oven was designed for. If you need fast cycle times, you need high-wattage tubes to move that thermal energy quickly. But a quick heads-up: those high-density lamps put a lot of pressure on your reflectors. If your reflectors are dirty or pitted, the heat bounces right back into the tube. That’s a shortcut to a dead lamp. Keep them clean. The Build We use heavy-wall quartz glass because these things take a beating. The rapid heating and cooling—the “thermal shock”—would crack cheaper glass. Inside, we use halogen gas. It lets the filament get hotter without burning out the wire, which means you get more IR punch per millimeter of tube. As for the plugs? We stick to the basics: R7s and SK15. You can just pop them in. No rewiring, no modifying sockets, no swearing at the machine for two hours. Getting the Heat Right The real goal is avoiding those annoying “cold spots.” You know the ones—they lead to uneven walls or, even worse, bottles that burst during the blow stage. Our lamps use shortwave IR to punch through the PET wall fast. And because we’re obsessive about the length and diameter, they slide right into your existing racks. No custom brackets, no “making it fit.” Just a direct fit that keeps the lamp at the exact distance it needs to be from the preform. It just works.
