Getting Your Sidel Matrix Heating Just Right

When you’re blowing PET, a lamp that “fits the slot” isn’t enough. We’ve all been there—you pop in a generic bulb and suddenly your temperature profile is all over the place.
That’s why we obsessed over the details. We built our replacement IR lamps to mimic the exact heat curve and spectral output of the original Sidel Matrix specs. The goal? You can swap the bulb and keep your existing oven recipes exactly as they are. No tweaking, no guessing, no headaches.
The trick is in the wattage.
If the wattage per millimeter is off by even 5%, you’re in trouble. You’ll end up with cold spots in some places and burnt preforms in others. It’s a nightmare to calibrate.
To stop that from happening, we use high-purity quartz glass. It lets that short-wave IR radiation punch right through the PET wall, heating it deeply and fast.
Plug and play. Seriously.
We use the standard connectors—usually R7s or Sk15, depending on which Matrix you’re running—so these are true drop-in replacements. You won’t be messing with the wiring.
We also make sure the filaments are perfectly centered. If they shift, you get “hot spots” on the glass, and the heat flux becomes unstable. We keep the tolerances tight so the heat stays steady across the whole tube.
A quick tip from the shop floor…
These lamps put out a massive amount of heat. But here’s the thing: the lamp is only half the battle.
If your oven reflectors are covered in dust or oxidation, they’ll fight against the lamp. The bulbs have to run hotter to make up for the bad mirrors, and that’s how you get premature burnouts. Keep those mirrors clean.
We build these things to take a beating in 24/7 production. By matching the electrical resistance and thermal emissivity of the Sidel originals, we’ve taken the guesswork out of the process.
You swap the bulb, hit start, and your preform hits the blow mold at the perfect temperature. Every single time.
